Dew'd... A Nail Fail- Mission Untried

LOOK I'M PUNNY.

I have a (not so serious) nail fail today. :( Let's start with the backstory...

I LOVE to experiment on nail wheelz. Love. But sometimes I love something so much, and then I forget what colors I used. So I started a binder of printed out lists of what was on each nail wheel... Then I put the list and nail wheel (dry of course!) into a plastic sleeve. I was really stumped tonight on what to do on my nails, so went to my nail wheels... and decided on this beautiful combo I made a while ago. It's Sinful Shine Rendezvous and ILNP Emerald Dew Drops... it was so pretty! AND they were both untrieds, perfect for my mission. (Let's not even talk about how I've had the ILNP EDD for over a year....)

And so begins the nail fail. The combination was perfect. I seriously think these polishes are soul mates. They're so gorgeous together.

The green base is SS Rendezvous, and the glitter topper is ILNP Emerald Dew Drops, in case you didn't know! Now... this doesn't look like a nail fail, right?? In person, it's a whole new story. SS Rendezvous was SO thick and weird to apply. I can't even describe the texture. It was just... strange. I don't know if it's because it's a pastely color, or because it's that special SC "gel tech" polish. I only did two coats, and it was REALLY hard to do them thinly.

You can't see it in the picture, because it's blurred, but my middle finger is seriously screwed up. Beyond "licking it" screwed up. I managed to mess up my pointer finger too! The only way I could make it better was to stick glitter on top.

Pretty!! Except... ILNP Emerald Dew Drops is pretty thick too. It has to be, it's a bottle of glittery goodness that has to be suspended. Which would be find if SS Rendezvous wasn't 50 million mm thick. Let me show you just how thick my final product was...

Can you see that?? SO THICK! It took forever to dry, and I of course couldn't resist the cool science wonder that happened when I applied my fast dry TC. I mean... it's dry, but I could still slide it around on my finger in a strange sludge sheet. BECAUSE SCIENCE!

Anyway, I now have a messed up manicure, that could have been pretty... and now it's not. Sigh... Oh well, I guess I'll just have to repaint tomorrow! Anyway, here's some pretty bottle shots, and a gorgeous macro of my index finger.

Do you see the little bubbles? HNNGGGG I HATE THAT. I didn't even shake my ILNP bottle! Grrr... I think it kind of worked though. It looks.... dewey. Har har.

And because I love nail polish, memes and Ariel.

Love You Forever

I have a very special post today! As you all know, today is Mother's Day! I'm not a mom... but I DO have a mom that I love very much. So of course I had to do a tribute manicure for her!

My mother's day mani is different than most I have seen-- they're not pink or purple! No no no... if you knew my mom, you'd laugh if I did a pink manicure in tribute of her. Instead, I had a very special polish from Literary Lacquer that I solely based on the name. It's called Love You Forever. Do you recognize the name? It's only one of the greatest children's books of all time. Love You Forever is of course based off of Love You Forever by Robert Munsch.

I have wonderful memories of my mom reading me this book when I was little. I can hear her saying, "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living, my baby you'll be." I seriously love this book! I know it will be a treasured one once I get my own classroom!

You can see Love You Forever on my ring finger. The formula on this is amazing! Two coats and I was good to go! On the other nails is China Glaze Fast Track from the Capitol Colors collection released in 2012. I found the little rhinestones at the Dollar Tree. Yay for frugal nail art!

The color on Love You Forever was a little difficult to capture while still showing the subtle linear holo effect. My photos show the blue a little too bright! Love You Forever is a bit more baby blue. The holo was also a little hard to capture! While it's not an IN-YOUR-FACE holo, it's more holo than this in real life.

I have a feeling this mani is going to stay on my fingers for a while. Oh! Did I mention this is my first time having rhinestones on my nails? I love them! Quick and easy nail art... and so pretty! You'll be seeing more rhinestones from now on, for sure.

On behalf of daughter's everywhere... HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! ♥

Mission Untried- Take Off

I have something really embarrassing to show you guys... I went through all my polish to figure out which ones were tried/untireds. OH MY GOD! I have to stop buying polish. Seriously. I have more untireds than trieds. It's embarrassing. And I have a bunch of indies on the way... Want a glorious picture of all my shame?

These are my two racks. The top one is my "commercial" rack that holds things like China Glaze, OPI, Sinful Colors, Pure Ice... etc. The second one is my indie rack. That is my favorite rack. Who doesn't love a good rack? :)

Move in closer. Closer. Just a little more. There! You see them? All the little colored dots... in yellow, pink, green, and orange. Every single bottle that has a dot on it is untried. *hides face* So ashamed. And that's not all my polish! I have about 100 more in bins with a very similar untried to tried ratio. I need to STAHP. STAHP BUYING ALL ZEE PAHLISHH! But I won't.

ETA: I just got 12 more polishes in the mail today... added them to my indie rack, and now it's full!

I'm on a mission. Mission Untried. On this mission, I'm going to try all my untireds... and then I'm going to destash the ones I don't like. What? Get rid of polish? Yeah you heard me. My plan is to try to use at least ONE untried in EVERY mani (unless swatching, or doing special nail art) until they have ALL been used. Here's my first one!

I was inspired by a photo in Polish-aholics Anonymous that was just too cute. Mama's Manicures did an adorable doticure gradient. You can see my inspiration here.

So which ones are untried, you ask? Well, that gorgeous purple seen on my index, middle and pinky. It's a beautiful deep purple with a metallic finish. It's PI No Means No. The pretty lavender I'm holding is also an untried... But I'm not counting it as tried yet because I just did cheesy little dots. It's SC Tempest. I need to REALLY use it before I count it as a tried.

Sorry for all the pictures, lol. I couldn't decide... I loved them all. I don't know which one showcases my manicure the best. You pick!

Finally, some delicious bottle shots of the polishes used for this look (minus a black creme, which was PI Black Out if you're wondering). From left to right once more... Sinful Colors Tempest, Pure Ice No Means No, China Glaze Icicles. Look at that fill line on No Means No! My mani used four coats... but I can't imagine it used THAT much! Hmm... Maybe it wasn't an untried, lol.

I have another 100 untrieds or so. I'm too afraid to count! I'll get the numbers later. I do need to update my stash list... Maybe I'll get my untrieds in then! Until the next mission! See ya later alligator!
